I recently was given the great privilege to photograph one week old Clayton William. What a sweetie he was! Spending the day with this beautiful family was truly an incredible experience that will stick with me for a long time. Welcome to the world little Clay!

Great news everyone! I received a letter today from the Milwaukee Art Museum saying that one of my pieces has been accepted into the Scholastic Art Show and has won a Gold Key Award!! This is the piece, it was taken at the Chazen Art Museum in Madison.

Such a simple assignment. Sometimes simplicity is key, yes? The assignment was simply to photograph a fruit or vegetable. I chose to shoot a pomegranate for one reason; I LOVE to eat them. And what’s better than a photography assignment you can eat?? However, as I got into the shoot I began to fully appreciate the beauty of the pom. It’s many glossy seeds make great subjects and I did everything in my power to make the focus of this shoot 100% about the pomegranate.

I recently had the opportunity to take a trip to the lovely capitol of Wisconsin; Madison. My photography class spent an entire day at the Chazen Museum of Art and strolling around downtown photographing the whole experience. The first thing that struck me about Madison was that there was so much going on! There was a plethora of colors, sounds, and textures everywhere we turned, and I was happy to capture even some of it! The museum was gorgeous and full of absolutely wonderful pieces. The tour guides very friendly and very accommodating. I highly recommend it if you’re ever in the area!

As fall descends upon us, I took a trip to the local public gardens to savor the last touch of summer beauty. It was rather overcast that day, which only added to the longing for warm afternoons surrounded by stunning, colorful flowers.

Inspired by the French director Albert Lamorisse’s film The Red Balloon, my photography class was given the assignment of capturing the simplistic beauty of a red balloon. I went through several ideas before this one came to me; a red balloon filled with water oddly resembled the apples on the trees in my yard…

My latest album was inspired by my family’s move from the city to the country earlier this year. A very welcome and peaceful change, by father went so far as to dub the experience ‘from the ghetto to the meadow’. Driving around our new home I’ve seen some incredible homes, barns, animals, and landscapes, and this album is my chance to share it with the rest of the world.
